Notes From Pirates B Game

Published:

The Pirates played the Minnesota Twins in a B game today at Pirate City at 10 AM. The game lasted seven innings. Pirates beat the Twins, 8-2, combining for 10 hits. Here are some notes:

  • Matt Hague, who played third base and batted cleanup, hit a three-run home run.
  • Robbie Grossman tripled twice and drove in three runs while playing left field.
  • Jeff Clement was 3-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored while playing first base.
  • Starling Marte went 1-for-4 with a triple, RBI, run scored and two stolen bases.
“This kids not afraid to go,” Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle said. “He’s looking for opportunities for free 90’s, what we call them. 90 feet on the bases without an out. He laid out one of the very first balls hit in the game, tried to make a driving catch in center field, drove a ball just short hopped center field. We had three triples on the day. It’s been fun watching him play.”
