For the first time ever, Pirates Prospects will hold a fantasy baseball contest for all site readers, using the Salary Cap Fantasy Baseball game from Citizens Sports. To join the contest you will need a Facebook account. Once you’re logged in to Facebook, you can join the league by going here. While you’re on Facebook, be sure to “Like” the Pirates Prospects page.
Pick your baseball team and stay under your initial salary cap of $200m. Then manage your team throughout the season, earning points based on your players’ performance. You must fill every position on your team to earn points. A player’s salary will be adjusted throughout the season based on ownership and other factors. Points are scored using the system below.
Scoring rules can be found here.
The league will last the entire 2012 season. The winner of the contest will receive a free Pirates Prospects 2013 Combo Pack, containing one copy of the 2013 Prospect Guide and one copy of the 2013 Annual. Entry to the league is FREE, so join today and be sure to set your lineups before the first game of the season.
Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.
