Today I would like to announce the addition of individual blogs to Pirates Prospects. The site has grown over the last few years, both in the amount of content produced, and the amount of people who contribute to the site. The main part of the site has become primarily focused on the news that surrounds the team. That didn’t leave much room for individual voices. The addition of the individual blogs will provide a section for those individual voices to weigh in on all Pirates-related topics.
Kristy Robinson was recently added to the site to cover the major league team for Pirates Prospects. Her blog will be used throughout the season to provide pre-game notes, lineups, and other news or thoughts that might not make it in to a full story.
My blog will be similar, but focused more on the minor league levels. I’ll have daily updates, and when I’m on the road covering minor league games I’ll have information updated on the blog prior to the games.
Wilbur Miller, Matt Bandi, and Kevin Creagh will also have blogs. Their blogs will be similar to columns, providing a place for them to provide their thoughts on whatever topic they want, whenever they want to talk about the topic.
John Dreker will run the history blog. For those of you who have enjoyed John’s history articles on the site, including the weekly feature and the daily “This Date in Pirates History” articles, they can now be found in one place.
The recent posts for each blog will be featured on the sidebar. The individual blog links can be found below.
Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.
This is a great idea! Thanks Tim. Great to see Wilbur Miller out there. He was my key to information about prospects long before there was so much other information out there. He made me realize i wasn’t the only fan out there digging for info.
