Today was a slow day in the Arizona Fall League for the Pittsburgh Pirates prospects. Brock Holt was the only player who played. He started at second base, batting eighth. Holt went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run. The AFL regular season will conclude tomorrow.
Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.
I couldn’t agree more. After Grossman was hurt and Cole threw his last game the AFL became an utter snoozefest. I think Cole is on a plane today so, no post season outing.
Next up? Spring training! 🙂 I’m going to have to rely on Tim and this website for my Florida updates.
Following the AFL got a whole lot less exciting once Grossman went down.
Mesa going to make the post season this year? I would like to see Cole get one more start in.
