Game 9: Sanchez Shuts Down Bucs

Published:

Jonathan Sanchez tossed eight scoreless and innings and whiffed 11. He allowed three hits. The Giants supported him with three homers. Game over.

Charlie Morton was victimized by two dingers in the second. Aubrey Huff hit an inside-the-park homer when his long drive into the RF alley caroomed toward RF and away from a closing Garrett Jones. Eli Whiteside popped a three run dinger later in the inning. In the fifth, Aaron Rowand ripped a two run dinger to close the scoring.

Charlie Morton went six and allowed all six runs. That effort actually lowered his ERA. Sanchez walked three and had only one serious threat when he induced an inning ending fly ball from Ryan Doumit with the bases juiced in the 6th.

The Good
Lastings Milledge had a pair of singles.

Garrett Jones continues to show patience, drawing two walks.
